IFIO Couples work
Intimacy from the Inside Out© is a model of couples therapy that draws primarily from the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model of psychotherapy, but also includes aspects of psychodynamic theory, systems thinking and neuroscience. It is an experiential model born out of a desire to carry the concepts of IFS into a relational setting and to use the intimate relationship itself as a vehicle for growth and healing of the individual, as well as the couple. In an IFIO therapy session, we will find ways to tell our story to each other from a place of compassionate listening as well as from a place of compassionate sharing. By learning to communicate differently in this way, we will develop skills to stay connected with our partner when there may be times of stress and relational difficulties.
Over time, we will understand and uncover the patterns that we are playing out with our partner. Patterns that may seem hopeless to start with, but we will find new ways to understand what is behind these patterns, and find new ways to be in connection.
As we explore and deepen into each others inner world and intentions, we will start to see a difference in both the ways we connect in our relationship and in the relationships around us.
